Milkshake Cupcakes, Now A Tradition

February 20th, 2012 · No Comments

Last year for the girls’ half birthday celebrations at school, we made Milkshake Cupcakes from Bakerella.  They were a hit.  Kelly wanted “plain” this year, if you recall, but Sara wants this cupcake to become her 1/2 birthday tradition.  I used cherry sours this year instead of red gumballs, which I loved, because they look like actual cherries.  PLUS, there is the bonus that I didn’t just give a roomful of 1st graders chewing gum.  I’m sure that made me popular with the teachers last year.  I also nixed the chocolate, and went with Funfetti cake mix.  And look at the sprinkles!  This cupcake is just a beacon to food dyes.  It follows our rule: if we don’t eat it every day, it’s perfectly dandy to enjoy it on special occasions.

Sara turned 6 and a half last week in high Milkshake Cupcake style, wearing silver shoes and lots of what-nots in her hair.  With Sara, MORE is more.  I knew I liked something about that little squirt.
