As God as my witness, this conversation happened today in the car:
Mommy: Tomorrow Daddy and I will have been married for 9 years!
Sara: Grandmommy and Granddaddy have been married a little bit longer, I think.
Kelly: I already knew that you carried roses at your wedding.
Mommy: Did you see the pictures?
Kelly: No, Sara told me when we were in heaven together, before we got here.
Mommy: Oh! I didn’t know you guys knew each other in heaven!
Sara: Oh yes. We were really good friends. But I didn’t know we were going to be sisters. I was actually relieved when Kelly was born, because when I was born, my only thought was, “I’m really going to miss her when I get to earth.”
Kelly: I knew we were going to be sisters. I decided to keep that truth to myself (her exact words, no joke).
Sara: Why didn’t you tell me?
Kelly: I wanted it to be a surprise!
Sara: Well it was! I was so happy to see it was you!
Kelly: Hey! I’ll tell you a surprise! My friend Parker (names changed to protect the equestrian undertaker) has a dead horse buried in her yard, and it’s marked with a horseshoe. If you stand over the dead horse and touch the horseshoe, it grants wishes!
Sara: Oh Mommy! PLEASE can we drive to Parker’s house?! I’ve just GOT to find that DEAD HORSE!
These are my favorite days. When I was sleep deprived Mommy of toddlers, so many parents told me to hang on. It would get better. These squirts would start earning their keep in comedic relief. We’re there. I’m LOVING THIS.
