The third question we’ve been asked by everyone we talk to (1. How’s baby? 2. How’s Mama?) is “So what does Sara think of her little sister?”
So what does little Miss Sara think of her new best friend, partner in crime, and chief competitor for Mom’s attention?
I’d say she started out slightly nervous and less than thrilled. Seeing Mom with tubes coming out of her arm as she peered into a glass case containing her new sister is probably little unsettling for a 2 year old. Nevertheless, baby Kelly was ready with the gift of an Elmo doll

In any moment of stress, it’s best to revert to the basics, so Sara quickly fell back on what she knows best: The location of all living creature’s eyes. Yep, that’s Kelly’s eye
Kelly was ready to quickly respond with the gift of a Sesame Street book. I think this is when Sara realized she might grow to like this little “Kelly” creature.

Yes, Sam-I-Am, I think I do like her.

As so, once again, our lack of parental instinct has led us to focus all our worry on a problem that never turned into a reality: our toddler’s acceptance of the new baby. Perhaps what we overlooked was the new baby’s acceptance of all of us. Kelly seems to remain unimpressed.
