You’re Not FOOLIN’ Anyone

These girls look innocent. Cute, adorable and cuddly. But don’t EVEN be fooled. Within these two children lie the genes of two of the most precocious girls God ever put on this earth. Here are Jordyn and Kelly. Jordyn is the daughter of my cousin Jayme. And let me tell you, should these two ever get into cahoots, stand back. Jayme and I made trouble an art form. We too, were cute little girls. And decided to drive to town in my Aunt’s stick shift to get Dairy Queen. At 13 years of age. And no, we didn’t know how to drive a stick shift. To wear our bathing suits 24 hours a day until the stench was so bad we couldn’t stand to be near each other. To throw whipper snappers at my neighbor. My very decent neighbor who has since forgiven me now that we are good and old, reads this blog, and certainly never did anything deserving of Whipper Snapper torture.

Ah yes, me and Jayme. We did it all. We have only one adventure from our childhood unfulfilled. And no, it doesn’t involve touring with Captain and Tenille, but that’s a close second. I am mortified to tell you that it was our lifelong dream to go to California, be chosen to COME ON DOWN on the Price is Right, and win our fortune on Plinko. Sweet dreams of our chips plinking down the board and winning us enough money to live on Dairy Queen blizzards forever. Now we are mommies, and whatever we get from our girls, we deserve. Can I get an AMEN from my Mom and Aunt Susie?!  Those two are just sitting in the wings, drinking their Tab Cola (which I think they’ve now proven makes you grow a third arm), awaiting our fates.  Oh yes, and laughing.  Almost maniacally.  Listen closely, and you will hear their joyous payback giggling.

  1. Hey guys-
    How cute are those two!!!!
By the way, Mike and I decided we are starting a school for girls in our basement. The school will:
    a) Keep our little munchkin away from evil boys. b) Keep our little girl out of trouble (yeah right).
Let us know if you’re interested. Tuition is free and Mike’s mom is the teacher.
Can’t wait to see you guys at Thenksgiving! We’ll be here and the competition is on for the best bahaved baby giggle off!
    Love,
    Kara, Mike and Katie

  2. True, True, all of this is True. And Yes, Susie and I are now drinnking ice tea, but, watching the two of you keep up with all this is SO SO much fun. Hang in there, 20 years, ulcers and gray hair awaits you.

  3. Roxanne,

Oh girl, it’s you! Totally referring to the time spent on the cul-de-sac, chasing you around with dead snakes and firecrackers. Jayme and I will have some ‘splainin’ to do up at the pearly gates! It’s good to hear from you! How are you?

    Lori

  4. Yeah I won’t forget the snake chasing that happened. I’m sure you’ll have no problem at the pearly gates, you’ve made up for it. I’m in school finishing my el. ed. degree. I student teach in Jan. I can’t wait. I’m back at mom and dad’s so I can go to school. I’m still doing a lot of baking and making candy. In fact if you are still doing cakes, you should go to Ft. Wayne, there is cake and candy store up there that is to die for. They have other things as well but they are known for their cake and candy stuff. Have a great day.

Mom says you should write a book with all of your blogs. You have a great play on words and such. She says you can do that in your spare time, you know when you aren’t chasing people with dead snakes or two of your own beatiful children.

  6. Rox,

Tell Jackie she is too kind. I’d love to write a book…someday. I have one in mind, but it’s not nearly as fun as this blog! It’s a huge compliment coming from your Mom. She’s probably read every book ever written. Tell her I’m completely addicted to Children’s Literature! Sara and Kelly have bookshelves all over the house! And by the way, thanks for forgiving me. We had WAY more good times than dead snake times on Shirley Lane. So I’ve got that goin’ for me! Miss you, Lori
