As quickly as the storm rolled in…in rolled back out again. Sara is now 24 hours fever free. Thanks to the wonderful invention of liquid codeine (don’t you just LOVE pharmaceutical advances?), Sara slept for 3 hour clips last night. Those stretches felt like pure heaven to me.
We knew she was turning the corner last night as I dried her hair. She tucked up her knees, laid down her weary head, and fell asleep with the dryer on. What a gal’s gal. There she was, all wrapped in towels and snoring away. I didn’t know what to do, so I just kept drying!
Bryce came over to cure Sara of the Cabin Fever, which should be chronicled in medical journals. Ah! I think she’s broken or stained everything in the house. Keri picked up toys (yes! relief!) and Ana Paula brought over the world’s largest pan of Brazilian Lasagna. Oh My God. Let me just say, wow. Greg and I have eaten rather poorly this week, despite my attempts to cook. And even with 4 new stitches in my gums (to add to my ever-growing collection), I am embarrassed to admit how much of that lasagna I inhaled. We both took one bite and just looked at each other in amazement. So the Brazilians get to be good looking, can dance, have a super cool accent, AND they can cook. They flat out win the DNA race. We pale, rhythmless Americans need to just get over it. She also brought pizzas and cookies and all kinds of wonderful treats. Can you feel my mood elevating by the second?
And finally, Keri brought over “milkshake mix”. It is Strawberry Boost, a nutritional supplement. We told Sara she could have a special treat, and have a milkshake for DINNER. Her head flipped rapidly checking both of our expressions as if to say, “Are you two serious? Because it’s not funny if you’re joking. We don’t joke about milkshakes.” She excitedly helped me add ice and ice cream and sugar to our new “milkshake mix”. Blend, blend, pour into a Donald Duck cup with a straw…and whallah! Sara eats again. Her only request is that she sip it covered in her pink blankie. After all, milkshakes are cold Mommy.
As the girls played in the tub tonight, Sara fell back into old routine and started to sing. I’m just so relieved to see her playing again. And singing at top volume, “Yankee Doodle went to town, riding on a POT-TY!”
p.s.: a huge thanks to my sister, who came over for a playdate last weekend, and ended up cleaning my house! To my Mom for burning a vacation day so that Greg and I could get to work on a day we just had to be at work. To Greg’s Mom for flying in from DC to help us through “mole go ‘way day”. To Keri for the random list of items I desperately needed and to Ana Paula for the food this house desperately wanted! If you are still feeling better and want or need some chocolate. You should come to Muncie on Sunday. Minnitrista is having an All things chocolate. I am entering 5 things. The public can pay $5. and get 10 tastings of all the chocolate things that people made.
Just to let you know. I hope the sick bug stays away from your house for awhile.

Roxanne,
Good Luck today! Mom and I seriously discussed going, but we decided not to push Sara too hard today. I really need her to go to school tomorrow! Hope you sweep all the categories!
Lori
Thank you! I knew it would be too close after getting everyone well. I hope you and everyone are feeling better and stay well.
