True Progress

After asking about 5000x times, “Do you need to poopy in the potty?”, Sara finally obliged. It may have something to do with spending all day Saturday with Avery who is now FULLY potty trained. I can’t imagine a world so perfect. In utter disbelief, we called Avery to give her the good news. A slightly competitive A asked only one question, “Ummmm…..was it a little poopy or a BIG poopy?” We’re going to have our hands full with these two.

Off to Wal-Mart for surprises! A Princess Wand! A bag of TEN lip glosses! And the long-coveted package of Princess-Days-of-the-Week panties. To which Sara threw open her eyes and exclaimed, “But there are so MANY!” Seven, to be exact. Which she is now wearing OVER her pull ups. Baby steps.

This morning, after a little coaxing, she did it again! And by coaxing, I mean she asked for a surprise in exchange for a bit of poo, and I agreed. As Daddy says, “Surprises are cheaper than diapers.” She sat precariously balancing her bony little butt on the big potty (she won’t use the Pooh Potty anymore because ABREY DOESN’T USE HER POOH POPPY). Head up, eyes rolled up, singing, “It’s a hard knock life for us! It’s a hard knock life for us!” Oh my little goofball.

P.S. We just returned from Target with Sara’s newest surprise: A doll that moves and coos that she named…Lori. “Wory” in Sara-speak, but wow. I’m veclempt. And because I’m a complete sucker, I bought Kelly a penguin bowling set. It’s a critical infant skill to know how to knock over stuffed penguins. Everyone knows this…
