And They Danced Anyway

I’ve put off writing this post, because I still tear up every time I think about how very far away Keri & Bryce have moved. Even though we talk every day. Even though they’ll be here in a week and we’ll all walk the Breast Cancer walk together. Even though they’ll be here twice in June for a birthday party and our Annual Thomas the Train Fiesta. A day so anticipated by the Fearsome Trifecta, that every single day Noah asks me for a new countdown to Thomas Day. Even though, even though. I miss them terribly.

But seriously, I’ve had a shit week. Just all around BAD things in so many BAD domains that I won’t even go there. Some things scary, some things creepy, and some things just kind of irritating. If it weren’t for a new episode of the Office tonight, I might have just tucked the whole family in a 7 pm, gathered every single thing I love in bed with us, and forced everyone to hug me until morning. And when they protested, I would say, “HEY! I’m the Momma! I’ve had a shit week! Now love on me until I feel better. That’s why I married you, carried you, and clean everything in all of your lives involving poop! I’ve earned a 12 hour cuddle you crazy chickens!”

The slideshow below is a series of pictures I took of Sara and Bryce dancing together while the movers packed up the last of Keri & Bryce’s house. Keri and I sat dejectedly on the couch, knowing that it was said and done, wishing we could feel like this: like two toddlers who don’t understand the dread of missing. They were simply interpretative dancing their joy of me giving them their own Nutty Bars…with ribbons.

  1. We miss them terribly too.
Noah asked about Bryce a lot. And of course, every time we talk about Sara, he asks about him…I caught him looking at Bryce’s Easter picture the other day…just starring at it.
I feel so fortunate to have met you guys!

  2. We miss you guys Soooo Much! You have me crying my eyes out right now. I love the pictures. There was a time in life when it was just that simple. Maybe we should try a Nuddy Bar and some Ribbons next weekend for the adults, or is it time for some bubbles. Who knows – other than it will be a great weekend! Bryce is so excited. He is counting down the days. See you soon.
