My children hate riding in the car SO much that my Grandma used to swear Sara had carsickness starting at birth. Family members often marvel at how two world travelers became home bodies so quickly, to which we say…really, take one trip with the girls. You’ll have your answer.
When Sara hit the wall today (after a LENGTHY 20 minutes in the car), I started a fill in the blank story. I started with, There was once a lion named…what Sara? She replied, “Doggie”. His best friend was also a lion named Tippy Toes. One day then decided to go to the store and buy….what Sara? “Fruit and bananas!” Yes, and they went to the store in Doggie’s airplane. The airplane was…what color Sara. At this point she was ecstatic, “BLUE!” I love blue too. Etc, etc. Of course the story ended with everyone going to bed like nice little animals.
I kept the stories short and sweet and always with animals, and by the third iteration, we were home. Happy camper Sara hopped out, my tiny teller of tales.
