You Must Try Etsy

Noradora’s Autumn Jubilee Knit Hat

I’m sure many of you have browsed the pages of Etsy, but if you haven’t, let me encourage you to take a look.  Etsy is the world’s largest craft fair.  It’s a website for artisans to sell, and for shoppers to buy, handmade items.  If you can imagine it, it’s there.

If not, they have an option known as “Alchemy”.  I can’t post a picture of what I had made until after Christmas because it’s a personalized gift.  Kind of a dead give-away on the surprise.  I wanted an item that I would normally pick up at a Craft Show, but my annual trip to The Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte, North Carolina has become a little less “annual” since the birth of the girls.

Saturday night I posted a description of what I’d like and my target price.  Within an hour, I had 5 bids.  Within the next hour, I had not only a picture of what it would look like from Precision Engraving, but an estimated ship date.  I paid for it via Paypal, and voila!  The present arrived on Wednesday, even more perfect than I imagined.  The fun thing about working with artists is that they can imagine and create better than I can describe.  I spent less than $30 (including shipping) on the perfect gift.

The internet is such a wonderful thing.  I love bringing the world into my living room.  Thank God Al Gore invented it.

  1. Oh that Al Gore, we have so much to thank him for. Did you know that he is personally causing the earth’s temperature to decrease? Genius!

As a staunch supporter of the internet, I have to agree with The Momma, Etsy is great.

  2. Thank you Al Gore. You have made this world a better place to live in.

I can’t wait until you win another Nobel prize for making a movie full of “scientific facts” (if that’s what you want to call them)
