How is it that I can stand for 8 hours rolling out my grandmother’s noodles, and not drop a single tear? But put out one damned decorative bowl of mixed nuts and I am completely undone. There is something I had never considered in the blessing of long-lived grandparents: one tends to slip into the illusion that they will live forever.

I was thinking of my grandma today as well. I think it is something about the holidays. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season.
