After Greg’s recent discovery that barefoot runners may have had it correct all along, he decided it was imperative that he find and purchase a pair of Vibram Five Finger shoes. When I mentioned this to my father, a man who has spent a lifetime searching for the perfect running shoe, I discovered he had already started his search for these wonders of shoe science. The closest store to us is about an hour away, so last Tuesday, off my little explorers went, to return with their matching Mary Janes.
There is a lot to be said for being as barefoot as possible in terms of foot health and body alignment. Long suspecting this to be true, I stopped wearing shoes unless it was absolutely necessary about 37 years ago. An alternative explanation is that I have hideously malformed feet, and no shoemaker on earth could ever make a shoe that I could find comfortable. Other than say, Ron Jon flops. Ron Jon flops are somewhat CHEAPER than the Vibrams, but secretly, I want a pair too.
Because my Dad believes that age is a function of one’s state of mind, he challenged Greg to race. A RACE! Yes. Next let’s duel. Out of respect for the 2 most important men in my life, I won’t reveal the winner. So I’ll just say that Dad, while you may not have 31 year old legs, you have a 31 year old SPIRIT. And that’s all that matters, right?

Greg,
I am glad that you got a pair. I remember you sharing Tim Ferris’ blog video with me. Let me know how it goes!
