So here’s the thing about having so much fun: there’s not so much time to sit on my arse and catch my breath. Or drink a cup of coffee. It’s OK, because I truly believe that work is centering. And working with your hands will really center you. But wow, when I sat down last night, I realized I had been moving for 14 hours straight. That’s….A LONG TIME. I must be REALLY centered. Or drunk.
Today I was determined to relax while the kids napped. All 3 fell asleep! Blessings from above! I mopped the kitchen floor. It could not wait, I promise. I folded 2 loads of laudry. Then the relaxing began:
First, I laid out the afternoon pool “goods”. Please excuse the hats, the girls begged for them at the dollar store and promised to all match (because they know if they promise to match, I’m buyin’):
Then, I set out the pediatric bistro table. We MUST have a place to lounge with our popsicles:
I filled up the Ninja Safari pool, pulled out my umbrella (aka the Melanoma Tent), and my chair:
Blew up the new dollar store inflatables, which the girls realized could be used as “surfboards”. They rode the waves for 1.5 hours straight, falling off these things and laughing their wet heads off:
The instructions were CLEAR. Do NOT use any large inflation machines to blow up these inflatables. Because apparently they think I have all day to blow up these items, along with refilling the pool with air. FINE. I’ll pull out my small inflation machine. It’s so tiny that’s hanging on the wall:
It’s so weak that it took me 7.2 seconds to blow up all the toys and the pool. COME ON already. At this point I was in such a deep state of relaxation, I sat and hulled sugar snap peas for 20 minutes uninterrupted. To a woman who hasn’t peed uninterrupted in years, that 20 minutes was a virtual lifetime.
I can’t EVEN believe I’m saying this, but it feels pretty good to be this tired. Rooster (my nickname for Avery) has lent a bit of spice to my purpose. I guess a little Rooster Saucy La-La (my FULL nickname for Avery) and a little sunshine can make all the difference. Maybe tomorrow I’ll really get into this R&R thing and finish the IRONING. Woopity-Doo!
