Bumper Crop of Beans

dsc_4284

You grow and you grow and you wait and you wait.  All summer long, just dreaming about those beans.  What are you going to do with ALL THOSE BEANS?  Blanche them and freeze them?  Eat them fresh?  With fish, with chicken, with meat…BEANS go with everything. Finally, you pick.  And there you have it:  one small bowl of the world’s greatest beans.  Just the one.  I’m hoping for more, but let’s not get too excited.  So far, it’s taken me 3 months to grow this one bowl.  Doesn’t exactly qualify as a bumper crop.  That can’t be good for my career in agriculture….I’m just saying…

  1. Oh I know just how you feel about the beans.
We planted and watered and waited and the rabbits ate the leaves right down to stems!
So off to the farmers market for us , just for a taste of fresh sweet green beans!
I was anticipating meeting you (and yours) this past weekend for Miss Alexa’s party !
    Always next year.
    Sincerely

  2. Last year, we were able to “harvest” about 3 beans per picking. This year we’ve upped it to 40-100 per picking (about every other day). Next year we’re planting even more so I can have a canning party (frozen green beans = yuck). Want in? 🙂
