The Science of Imperfection

Lest you think I can cook it all, sew it all, create it, clean it, imagine it, and YANK it out of a closet, just to PUT IT BACK 10 minutes later…let me tell you now…I CANNOT.

My bathrooms need a-scrubbin’, the only action the laundry sees these days are the cats sleeping in the baskets, and the floors…let’s not go there. Those Valentine’s dresses are in the same shape as when you last saw them.  And what am I doing every evening as of late?  I’m sitting on my arse, drinking a half a glass of red wine, and eating honey bread.  Other than cooking 3 meals a day and cleaning up the mess, I’m doing a whole lot of nothing right now.  I caught a wicked cold 2 weeks ago, and it’s wiped my desire to achieve, well, anything. After the rush and wild of December, I just want to “be” for a while.  And by “be”, I mean sitting in a bubble bath, staring into blank space.  Blankly.  Staring.

I’m sure I’ll catch my second wind in a day or two.  I’ll sweep through the house like Mary Poppins and all will be up-righted again.  But until that time arrives, I’m living comfortably with the reality that there are no deadlines to meet.  As long as the dishes are washed, I can live with the rest for a bit.  I will say that when I walked into the basement last night and saw THIS…I turned around and went back upstairs.  I can live with it but I don’t want to LOOK at it!
