If You Give A Mom A Muffin

I’m so knee deep in the sewing room that today I will share the words of another. My sewing project is very kid-related and school-related, making my life during this last month of school feel centered, and not as hectic as it might sound.  Below is a parody to Laura Numeroff’s “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie” series.  I’m a huge fan of her books, my favorite being, “If You Take A Mouse To School”, but I think Sara would choose “If You Give A Moose A Muffin”, and I’m pretty sure Kelly would choose, “If You Give A Pig A Pancake”.  Enjoy, and a huge thanks to Beth B. for sharing this with me this morning.

“If You Give a Mom A Muffin” By Kathy Fictorie (based on books by Laura Numeroff)

If you give a mom a muffin, she’ll want a cup of coffee to go with it. She’ll pour herself some. The coffee will get spilled by her three year old. She’ll wipe it up. Wiping the floor, she will find some dirty socks. She’ll remember she has to do some laundry. When she puts the laundry in the washer, she’ll trip over some snow boots and bump into the freezer. Bumping into the freezer will remind her she has to plan supper for tonight. She will get out a pound of hamburger. She’ll look for her cookbook. (101 Things to Make with a Pound of Hamburger). The cookbook is sitting under a pile of mail. She will see the phone bill which is due tomorrow. She will look for her checkbook. The checkbook is in her purse that is being dumped out by her two year old. She’ll smell something funny. She’ll change the two year old. While she is changing the two year old the phone will ring (Of course!) Her five year old will answer it and hang up. She remembers that she wants to phone a friend to come for coffee on Friday. Thinking of coffee will remind her that she was going to have a cup. She will pour herself some. And chances are, If she has a cup of coffee, Her kids will have eaten the muffin that went with it!

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!

  1. I showed mom your post. She loved it. Did you happen to get to the sale? We ended up not going today, this week went from nothing to something every evening so we might go later in the week. Maybe Friday.

  2. The sale was good. It wasn’t the bargain of the Hachette in Lebanon, but I still averaged about $2.93 per book, which is awesome. Sara is just about ready to read, so I spent a boatload on early readers and Fancy Nancy Sticker books as birthday gifts for parties. I had to look for the classics (How Does A Dinosaur, Kevin Henkes, etc), but they were definitely there. I thought the cook book selection was quite nice as well! Kelly and I spent an hour there, but had I been alone, I would have easily spent 2.

  3. Yeah, I understand spending awhile there. Some sales are better than others. I think a lot has to do with how well the school book fairs go. If they go well then the warehouse sale isn’t as good as other times. I’m glad you got some good deals.

  4. Ana Paula,

When you are done puking. And when we are sure the boys aren’t getting whatever ick you carried back from Japan! You’ve brought home the Japanese flu!

Want to do a Thursday night? I have the date of the party, but I need to settle on location.
