Scholastic.com

My best friend majored in Elementary Education, thank God, and often gives me words of wisdom that quickly turn into “the piece of advice that stopped me from losing my mind”.  She suggested I do a little surfing at Scholastic.com.  You can either type “printables” or “teacher store” in the search bar, and for $40 a year, you can search and print practice pages; thousands and thousands of practice pages (aka worksheets), which can be searched by grade and subject area.  Sara loves her Scholastic Practice Pages so much they are littering far too much space on my kitchen cabinet tops.  In 10 quick minutes during naps today, I took some old work folders from my office stash, covered the logo with some old items from my scrapbooking stash, and created folders where the girls could keep and organize their worksheets.

Is it ever too young to inspire a love of organization in our children?  The funny thing (and many people don’t believe this story, but I have the documentation to prove it) is that I have zero talent for organization.  I took a very detailed personality test at the company I never mention by name, and it clearly stated in my natural state, I live in pure chaos.  My sewing room will affirm this data.  BUT, I respect and admire organized people so much, I’ll do anything to copy their habits.  Apparently, I am quite good at imitating. Either way, taking good advice and putting it into practice has been a Godsend in parenting!

  1. Edhelper.com also has some great “worksheets” coloring sheets, hidden pictures and so on. I don’t know how much it is for a yearly subscription but I think you can get some sheets without buying.

  2. I love the guards around her castle. Yes, you live with a human wrecking ball. She just walks into the room, and things start falling down, including her. But, she is a cute wrecking ball. Love Grandma

  3. Kelly falls a lot. Hmm… wherever did she inherit that? Maybe from a certain Grandma who cannot stay upright on a bicycle?!
