Do you sometimes wonder if I have friends as wacky-crafty as I am? Oh yes, yes I do; my best friend, in fact. Amie is a woman who knows how to take a good theme and take it to the next level. If you want to see an enchanting and one-of-a-kind party, join me on tonight’s photo journey.
I have blogged a couple of times about Amie and her husband’s journey through adoption (twice!), and this past year brought tiny miracle Kylie. She was born at a whopping 1 lb, 5 oz, and has blossomed to a gorgeous 16 lbs, just in time for her 1st birthday. She and her cousin Rylee shared their first birthday party today; a CUPCAKE theme no less…pinch me now, I died and went to birthday party theme heaven.
Can you imagine the phone conversations we’ve had about this amazing feat of cupcake beauty? I knew Amie planned to go big, but folks, THIS is awesome. I can’t say I’ve ever seen a cake table quite so magnificent.
Needless to say, the kids went a little nuts over the “Decorate Your Own Cupcake” bar.
Here is Kelly both eating, and guarding, her precious creation.
Oh, you made a cupcake? Here is a tiny cupcake box with a holder inside to take your beautiful cake art home. I’m pretty sure those boxes are all sitting empty. I’ve never seen a table of children so quiet as they dug into their DIY cupcakes.
Are you thirsty? Because here are some crazy cool sweet tea and lemonade dispensers for your quenching pleasure. Are you hungry? Not pictured was a full lunch bar covered in delicious sandwiches, salads, fruit, and chicken nuggets. I won’t lie, I went back for seconds. SO GOOD.
You prefer water? I know a few roomies from college who may have mixed a few frozen drinks the night before this party, sat around Ms. Cindy’s kitchen table, and laughed ourselves into a frenzy affixing labels to the water. I can’t promise perfect alignment from a bunch of women drinking margaritas while on crafting duty, but I can promise we had a wonderful evening catching up (and eating Cindy’s famous appetizers…oh Cindy, I just love your cooking).
Does she decorate? Of course she decorates! Amie made this banner entirely by hand, so Kings to the Master on this one. And we FINALLY found interesting balloons.
If you weren’t stuffed already, all guests were sent home with a lovely box of designer cupcakes. Cupcake-o-licious!
The birthday girl in her pink and brown cupcake themed dress would have seen us off, but as you can see, she dozed off while attending to more important matters.
Happy Birthday Baby Bird Kylie and Cousin Rylee. It was an honor sharing your party today. And let it be known across the land, Momma Amie KNOWS how to CRAFT ONE HECKUVA PARTY!

Just wanted to let you know that the Cricut machines are on sale at Jo-Ann Fabrics, and so are the cartridges!!!
Lori,
What a wonderful party!! Thanks for sharing this post. I enjoyed reading and looking at all of the pictures. What a creative idea for a party. I bet you all had so much fun!!!

Ana Paula,
Warren Buffet once said, “I don’t own a boat. I have friends who have boats.” That’s my philosophy about the cricut. If owned a sewing machine AND a cricut, I’d never get anything done!
Thanks for the info! You know I love a good Jo Anns sale!
Good Lord, I made the blog! What an honor! Thank you Lorge for the endless b-day party conversations during the last- year. I could not have done it without your DIY wisdom. I now understand why you go into a coma the week after a party. Loved having all the Bethels together- it made my weekend! Love you tons! How dangerous will we be together when I live in Indy? Oh, and after this Christmas– I’ll have the “boat!” aka Cricut!! 🙂 No more to the hand traced and cut letters I say! 🙂
Amie…the first of many blog posts about your creativity…I just know it.
I tried all day to get a shot of Kylie smiling, because heavens knows her smiles take up her whole face and light up a room. Now we know why she couldn’t! Poor thing, I hope her ear infection is better and her fever is down. I STILL haven’t held her! AH!!! Last time I was sick, and this time she is sick! Move here so I can babysit that precious angel!
Love you tons too. Good Lordy you look amazing. Through thick and thin, through sick and sin,
Lorge
