Merry Christmas Teachers

It’s hard to describe how I feel about our girls’ teachers.  They are indescribably special people whom have opened the world for Sara and Kelly.  To say they enrich our lives is just putting it too mildly.  I love thinking about their Christmas bags every year.  I usually buy the fabric around December 30th the year in advance, swear I’ll sew them in the summer, and without failure, sew them the week they are given.  I’m predictable in my procrastination.

You know how much I love drawstring bags, so this Christmas I’m calling them, “Reusable Gift Wrapping”.  Look!  I’m green!  I found these wonderfully antique-y ornaments at Michael’s in Nashville, Indiana.  I did 6 bags total, and the idea that you could find 6 matching anything at Michael’s Flowers and Antiques was a sign that they were meant for our teacher bags.  The fabric is from Moda, but my apologies, I don’t remember the name of the print.

I added Christmas cards, gift cards, and of course, bark cookies.  Ah yes, my Grandma’s bark cookies.  Kelly and I made 113 last week, and they are ALL gone..every last one has been gifted.  My sister spied them in the fridge tonight and I handed her the rest.  She made my grandparents potatoes tonight at dinner, so giving her Grandma and Grandpa’s Christmas cookies seemed a fair trade.  If my neighbors are reading, don’t worry, we’ll make twice that number again this week for our annual cookie platters.  If anyone is leaving town early (yes, I mean you Jessica!)…give me heads up!

  1. What wonderful gifts! I’m trying to see buying fabric a year in advance as procrastination – even if the actual sewing just happened – but I just can’t get myself there 🙂 You have such an awesome gift for crafting and making others feel special. Thank you for sharing these awesome ideas.

  2. Cute bags and such a good idea, I am going to have to “borrow” that idea for some of my gifts this year. Thanks for the inspiration. Keep up the good work.

  3. Loooove the bags! Can you teach me how to make something, anything, some day, please? 🙁
    Love you and miss you!
