My favorite thing to do in my sewing room is to play a game of ad lib. On Saturday, with Kelly in a deep sleep, Sara and I wandered into the sewing room and just started goofing off with fabric. For the next few days I’ll show you a series of 20 minute projects made by me, Sara, and finally, upon awakening, Kelly. Nothing special or complicated…just my gals and I having some fun. I’m really enjoying the girls finally being old enough to “create” on their own.
Despite having all the colors in the world to choose from, Sara wanted to play with this snowy white fleece scrap. She folded it in half, picked 2 colors of thread, and with very little assistance from me, sewed up the sides (purple and pink thread, of course). She knew she wanted to make a sleeping bag for Baby Lori, so we just lucked out that the scrap she chose was just wide enough. I pulled some scrap flowers out of a basket, leftover from the scarf project, and well…pom poms were simply required at this point. A little hot glue, and voila! A sturdy-enough sleeping bag was born.
The girls love “making things” even more than I do, but I draw the line at the cats. I’m not making a sleeping bag for a cat!

Wonderful Job Sara!
Teaching my daughters to sew as young girls is something I missed out doing because I was working ALL kind of hours, hence never had the time…
I’m applauding you Lori, for being such a good Mom, and teaching your girls such valuable skills..

Oh come on, Lori. If there are any cats in the world that deserve a sleeping bag, it would be your cats. You could even find material that matched their fur. I know you could. Please….
