WMDs

These are Weapons of Mass Destruction, cleverly disguised as cute little girls.  They are the sweetest, cuddliest biological weapons upon the earth.  My theory is iron-clad, as they have, ONCE AGAIN, brought home mildly runny noses…OH SO INNOCUOUS, that upon entering my immune system, have turned into some kind of plague.  I was a critical care nurse for years, and never, not once, did I catch anything serious.  And yet somehow, I now have my 2nd case of laryngitis of the year, along with a throat infection.  I’ve been eyeballing the fire extinguisher from my bed all day, thinking rather than dosing myself with useless ibuprofen, I’ll just extinguish the fire in my throat with an that red canister on the wall.  An entire bottle of benadryl won’t stop the madness running through my respiratory system…WHERE DO THEY GET THESE KINDS OF GERMS?! MRSA is a paper cut compared to this stuff.

Greg came home early last night and sent me to bed, telling me to clear my calendar.  Hah!  The calendar of a Stay-At-Home Mom being so open and all.  That only required that he take both girls to ballet and fit Sara for her French Village Maiden costume, there was 9am Art Class at Kelly’s school, a rescheduling of the Origami Volunteer for Staff Appreciation Week, the endless list of loose ends that would have been squeezed between those 2 events, and don’t forget Daisy Scouts, Sara’s patches that still need applique’ing, Kelly was staying all day at school and would need lunch, her pillow, her blankie, and of course, a bag to keep her entertained during Daisy Scouts, for which I bring the markers, crayons, and first aid kit.  Daisy Scout Fridays are 7-bag days.  I wake up, put my hair into a ponytail, and turn into a Sherpa.  Don’t get me wrong, I love it…except when my Biological Weapon children mess with my health, in which case, I go down like a toy soldier.  I’ll return to this space soon, hopefully free of toxic germs that should be sequestered in some kind of bunker and studied by Top Secret Scientists.  Forget worrying about Smallpox everyone…it’s KID germs that should scare you.

  1. So sorry to hear you caught a kiddo virus! Those things are tough! We too have been battling a late batch of winter sickness. Poor Alexa has been in school less than three of the past six weeks. Strep throat and pneumonia were here most notable infections but we had a spattering of random viruses in between. Take care and get well soon!
