Just Keep Swimming…

I’m in the place all Chairmen visit at some time or another…that moment when you lay your head down and ask, “Tell me exactly WHY I volunteered to Chair such an event?  And WHY did I create so many moving parts?  And WHY am I still awake, surrounded by a billion emails and markers and posters, and how the hell did those foam shapes resurface out of my art closet again?!”

After Gifts Galore, I decided to Co-Chair a much smaller event: Staff Appreciation Week.  It’s 5 days of festivities celebrating the amazing staff at the girls’ school.  And they are amazing.  They deserve a parade, but honestly, it’s just not in the PTA budget.  So if I’m not HERE…I’m THERE, as the event starts on Monday.  The theme is “A Thank You Heard Around the World”, hence the flags, projector, and STUFF you see decorating my dining room.  And after 5 years of trying, I’m getting rid of those foam shapes.

Sara: less of a Co-Chair, and more of a Cheering Section.  And distraction.  Still, everyone gets their turn at using the projector and tracing flags.

I’m pretty excited about the week of festivities, which I will detail here when I cross the finish line.  I’ll give you hint: origami.  Really, really big origami.  Because you know what’s better than paper? Big paper.  I got smart this time around: I have Co-Chairs, and they are wicked cool, full of wicked cool ideas, and wicked cool follow-through.  Am I tired? Yes.  Am I tired alone? No.  Just keep swimming, just keep swimming….
