On the rare occasions I leave the house without my posse, I sometimes gently remind Greg that he is NOT “Uncle Dad”. Bacon dipped in syrup is NOT dinner. Kids who had gym class on a 90 degree today should NOT go to bed un-showered. Bedtime reading should NOT include terribly scary books (even though I know it’s the girls who beg Daddy to read M.Night Shyamalan’s childhood version of Lady In The Water). Do my suggestions go unheeded? Often yes, they do. Daddy nights are “crazy awesome”, so I hear.
Daddy’s brother, Uncle Randy, came in for a visit over the rainy Labor Day weekend, and there were movies and popcorn and board games and card games and oh-so-much relaxed just-hanging-out fun-ness. At one point I looked up from my work, and while I had to laugh at the obligatory time spent exploring new iPad games (“But Mommy, they’re educational”…take note of the girls’ serious face expressions, trying to fake me into believing they are “studying”), I also got a kick out of the now literal meshing of Uncle Dad.
Share with me: what hilarious things does your husband do with the kids when you’re out for the night?

Lori, Last weekend (Labor Day) we ( Na Na & Pa Pa ) sure had fun entertaining Miss A on the front porch! Sure was a lot of laughing and giggling going on and we’re not going to ever tell why! lol:)
Amie only shushed us once…hehe
Oh, you mean things like the games they make up one which is called “What’s on Daddy’s Butt”. Which is exactly like it sounds. The kids put something on Daddy’s butt and he guesses what it is. 🙂
Shayla,
“What’s On My Butt?” may be the greatest Daddy invention of all time. You get to take a nap and play with your kids at the same time. PURE GENIUS. High five’s to Jay.
