She needed red leggins. So, you know, throw in the matching shirt, which brought us $3 below the “$10 off” level. Asking her to grab a pack of socks made them free. BUT AS YOU CAN SEE, I HAD NO IDEA WHAT SHE HAD IN MIND.
This morning at O’Dark Thirty:
Kelly: I know what you’re thinking and don’t even do it.
Mommy: I’m. I’m…um. I’m not even thinking it.
Kelly: I’m wearing them. Like THIS. I’m wearing them like this.
Mommy: Can I at least tuck in the leggins so they won’t be bunchy?
Kelly (after deep consideration): YES. You can fix the bunch.
Mommy: You look absolutely amazing. Your winter coat even matches these socks. You are one of a kind, and I say that without reservation.
Kelly: THANK YOU.
Mommy: You are WELCOME.

I think she and Lucia are cut from the same mold. Luli insists on dressing herself (~28 months) and it gets crazier by the day. She is particularly partial to dresses with a skirt underneath, and no outfit (even when its 90 degrees) is complete without arm and leg warmers…. even if they are under a long sleeved shirt. Eduardo just sighs… I secretly smile; I was the girl who wore sweatshirts tucked into sweatpants throughout elementary school 🙂
