Tomorrow is Kelly’s first Daisy Scout “Swap”. If you’re unfamiliar with swapping, join the club. I’ve recently learned they are itsy-bitsy crafts which are attached to lanyards via safety pins, traded by Girls Scouts everywhere. Did someone say cute little crafts? I’m SO IN. But it does beg the question: how did they do this before Pinterest? I shudder. Our Troop made these Swaps last week, and we’re trading with the 1st grade Troop tomorrow. The samples above are mine, but 14 Kindergarten girls made countless versions that look just like these. Bravo Kindergarten!
Instructional: I cut the flowers with my Cricut. The face is a Cricut circle (cut in half) and an apostrophe, Elmer glued to a brown button. Safety pin is hot glued to the back (clearly, I did the hot gluing). The wands are tiny craft sticks (much smaller than a popsicle stick), foam stars with sticky backs, and a piece of curling ribbon. Again, safety pin hot glued to the back.

I remember swaps before Pintrest (and the Internet in the home and craft foam and home circut). Wish i could find my swap hat to show you. Lots of pipe cleaners and felt. As a Junior (Juliette), my bronze project was coming up with and teaching a younger troop how to make swaps. We made a campfire from brown pipe cleaners and orange and red felt. My fingers still hurt from cutting out all that felt…
