Your Nativity Scene Is Missing Flamenco Dancers

If you’re looking at this picture and thinking: the girls must have invited their parents upstairs to see their “show”, which entailed them posing in some sort of odd yoga stance wearing Flamenco dresses, while singing a medley of “Sha-na-na” mixed with “Kumbaya”, in front of a nativity scene they constructed using play silks and stuffed animals? Then you would be CORRECT.

It was the worst Off-Off-Off-Off-Off-Off Broadway show I’ve ever seen.  I found a Purple Unicorn playing God to be overly theatrical (I think we can all agree purple unicorns make better ingenues), and while Baby Jesus was aptly acted by Rainbow, the mermaid completely missed the mark as Gabriel.  She overshot it.  Not to mention she’s half-naked. There were Flamenco Dancers and bikinis at the birth of Jesus?  Who costumed this thing? I tried to find the meaning between the lines of “Oh Lord, Sha-Na-Na”, but I think the last thing we need is one more maudlin statement on the effects of Global Warming. Come On Broadway.  WE KNOW, WE KNOW.

As they unwrapped the large presents during the worst blocked scene in history, I couldn’t help but thinking: I could be enjoying Jersey Boys this very second.  Ugh. Me and my addiction to experimental Black Box Theaters.  When will I ever learn?

  1. Hahahahahaha! Oh, kids are so funny. What will they think of next? This morning Sam created a Samurai Ninja Penguin out of construction paper. Because, you know, Japanese penguins are under represented in an art world dominated by a Western-centric paradigm.
