We rearranged these things about 1oox during her week of tonsillitis.
Kelly has a small and respectable role as Zebra Fish #1 in the Kindergarten Musical titled “Go Fish”. I may have mentioned this before, but I couldn’t be more thrilled. In Sara’s Kindergarten Musical, she was a Dalmatian, requiring a costume which was white with black spots. Kelly is a MUTANT Zebra Fish: white, with black spots. I won the Kindergarten Musical Costume Lottery. Did I keep it? Does it fit? YES and YES. Stage Moms everywhere are high-five’ing me at this moment.
Running lines tonight:
Mommy: And then Clown Fish #3 says “Think of a way to help us instead.”
Kelly (speaking almost resolutely): I’m a Zebra Fish with spots.
Mommy: Wait, shouldn’t you say it sadly? Or like…with frustration? You want the Great White Shark to help you figure out how to become a Zebra Fish with stripes, right?
Kelly: I DID want that in Scene 1 Mommy. But by this part, I’ve come to terms with my spots. I have accepted them. This line should be spoken quite plainly, because I haven’t all the way accepted them, but I am close. By the end, we will all celebrate our differences.
Mommy: Oh. OK.
Kelly: We’ve been running these lines all year Mommy. You have read all the way to the end, haven’t you?
Mommy: OF COURSE I HAVE. It’s just that, as a Mommy, there are so few surprises for me (flipping and reading…lo’ and behold, there is a lesson in this madness. Who knew?! No judging me…after listening to “Round Up Under The Sea” on CD for a year in the minivan, I’m losing my focus.)

One response to “She’s A Method Actor”
I am a 7th grader at Kelly and Sara’s school- we watched the kindergarteners practice their play. Kelly and her classmates were awesome! I can’t fathom how they memorized so many lines… if only I could do that for our middle school play.
