The toes of a mermaid. Now if only she could grow the fin…
The girls love a good pedicure, which, at their age, feels like a dangerous thing. And by “dangerous”, I mean “expensive”. So you can imagine my delight when I won a gift card to Massage at the Lake Day Spa while we are on vacation. I know what you’re thinking, “Seriously…Lori. You didn’t use it on yourself?!” Before you classify it as a Vacation Party Fail, I shall let you in on a little secret: the Nail Technician at the Spa does NAIL ART.
Glittery flower garden, growing on Kelly’s toes.
The girls thought they had died and gone to Candyland when they sat in the massage chairs and found they turned ON. The lovely staff brought them hot chocolates, and I wish you could have seen their faces. They thought they were in a movie. Sara faked having to pee just to marvel at the bathroom (it was grand). Ms. Cindi Gibson could not have been sweeter, and spent over an hour creating the most glittery of designs on their tiny toes. They picked their colors, which involved a base color, accent colors, and no less than 3 types of glitter. It’s been a week, and these pedicures are unchanged. I love them both, but how on earth she managed to make Sara’s toes look like the fins of a mermaid just blows my mind. Sara is so obsessed with mermaids that she won’t put on shoes. She doesn’t want to hide her proof that she is ACTUALLY, SERIOUSLY, and MOST SURELY…a mermaid. Any day now Ducky…any day.
A huge thank you to Cindi Gibson for a delightful afternoon, and the lifelong memory the girls and I will share of our special Mother-Daughter time together in the world’s sweetest spa. Another thank you to Janet Woods (Spa Owner) for the wonderful massage she gave me at the Deep Creek Welcome Party. Should you find yourself in the Deep Creek/Oakland, Maryland area, you must add this to your list of things to do. I’m certain these ladies just made it onto our “Annual Traditions” list. I know what you’re thinking, and yes, they are above the goats. Beauty above goats people! I haven’t totally lost my mind!
*In case the Blog Police are on patrol tonight, I have to insert that I was not paid in any way for this post. I won the gift card fair and square at a drawing at the Honi Honi, a place where the Blog Police should stop sometime and have a beer…and chill out. Some of us write about good experiences just because we’re nice people. God forbid I trick you into getting your toes done. LORDY LORDY what a RUSE. I wish someone would trick me into going to the SPA.*

Cute toes! Sounds like a lot of fun!
~Have a lovely day!
I can’t believe that you would rather go get pedicures than play with goats. I just don’t understand you people. Where are your priorities, Lori?
Dr. Pepper,
Spoken like a true Hoosier. You move all over this planet Ms. Lydia, but girlfriend…you is a HOOSIER.
As a tween/teenager, one of my very, very favorite things was going to visit my grandmother in Dallas. One of the first things she would have us do together was a pedicure and manicure. Coming from a home where my mom wore zero makeup and I desperately wanted to, this was pure heaven. I treasure those memories of the way she made me feel special. Your girls will LOVE this memory.
