The Slumber Party Theme Is…Slumber Party

After a solid year of begging and pleading, I finally acquiesced and agreed to let Kelly have a slumber party for her 6th birthday. The rule around here is “7th birthday”, so for the youngest in the house, that will translate into everything happening 1 year earlier. Ah…the life of the youngest…a role I know well.

I tried several times to explain to her slumber parties aren’t themed, and I won’t be hanging a house full of decor…but she went through a litany of themes anyway.  We started with, “Mommy, I want rainbow unicorns, and can you make one jump out of a cake?”, to “I want a Fashion Clothes Fancy Party with a Fashion Cake and A Tea Party.”  One day she woke up, ran downstairs, and insisted the entire theme be “BLUE!” Yesterday I laid out my Cricut Cartridges and said…PICK, and we’re making an invitation, not a party store. Lo and behold, she told me she’d like the theme of her slumber party to be…Slumber Party.

Kelly picked everything you see, from the decor to the colors. I think she did a really good job.  My only input were the loop-de-loops. The invite rhymes (in its original unedited form), and here is the best part: I only had to make ONE. Because it’s Kelly first slumber party, she came up with the genius idea to invite one special girl who has an older sister the exact same age as Sara.  They’ve been gang of gals for years, and the “older” girls can be there to show the “little” girls the slumber party ropes.

Now, to choose the cake.  She wants a Barbie Cake. Wait, no.  She wants a BLUE Cake.  Wait…hold that thought.  She wants a cake that sings every song from High School Musical, is covered in fairies, and spits out Skecher Glittery High Top Tennis Shoes…
