Remember when Disney was fun and sweet? We all Meeska-Mooska-Mickey Moused. But I have some bad news for my friends with younger kids: Disney takes a nasty turn after the cartoons are gone. I didn’t want to be “that Mom”, so when the girls outgrew Disney Jr., I let them watch A.N.T. Farm, Jesse, and Good Luck Charlie. I thought they could differentiate between fake sassy kids and real life. I couldn’t have been more wrong. My daughters were taught disrespectful sarcasm. By Disney. What a painful reality, but a Mom’s gotta do what a Mom’s gotta do. I banned the Disney channel. Ugh.

Yes, the Disney channel was banned in 2010 in this house, when I caught glimpses of tween/teen characters back-talking their parents and treating them as if they were inferior. Disney Jr. is about done for the 3 y.o. All of our cartoon watching now comes from PBS.
Good to know! It’s a rarity we even turn into Disney Jr. Our favorites right now are Daniel the Tiger on PBS and Peter Rabbit on Nick Jr. Other than those two our kids are still happy watching a Classical Baby dvd. I hope they NEVER tire of those! 🙂
As much as I love Disney, and you know I do, we too have banned Disney channel. In fact, I feel commercials on any channel are so scary or suggestive, that we have just about banned TV all together in our house. We watch all sorts of the animated Disney movies though!, 🙂
